I think there are many professions where it’s okay to hire someone who works part time but South Orange County Real Estate is not one of them. The truth about our real estate market is that it changes on a daily or weekly basis so a good agent needs to dedicated fulltime effort and attention to knowing the market so they can truly act in the best interest of their clients. As a full time licensed Realtor I take my career seriously as my husband can attest to. I spend a good amount of time studying the trends in South Orange County Real Estate so I know what my clients will have to deal with and can best serve their individual needs.

Just think of the type of dollars we are working with in South Orange County Real Estate and the need to dedicate full time attention to this profession should be obvious. I know what is currently listed, average days on market and if that is increasing or decreasing, where the current prices are and if they are going up or down and are they only going down due to sellers getting overly aggressive and pricing their homes to a future market value or if prices are genuinely trending down. I know when something comes on the market that matches my client’s needs and make sure we get right over to see that before others do. If there are no homes that match my clients needs and they like a particular tract in a particular area I will send out a letter, postcard or door knock it if possible to try to find that home that may not be on the market yet but is a match for them.
I have had deals where part time agents represented the other party (typically a family member or old friend of the family who is dabbling in real estate) and there where plenty of things they missed, not just on legal requirements but also in pricing, deal structuring and negotiations. These part time agents simply do not have the time to commit to doing everything the right way, they need to get a full time job done in part time hours and us full time agents will always run over them as we protect the interest of our clients.
If I was a part time realtor I wouldn’t be focused on knowing the market, have time to market my listings or find homes that are not on the market. I would strictly be someone that writes a contract up for my clients. That’s not what I want to do. I want to be an integral part in helping my buyers and sellers with their real estate needs to the best of my ability giving it 100% of my time.
