Technological Changes Show the Value of a Team
I like change about as much as the next person, however, last week I think I had a bit too much technological change. Orange County Real Estate is pretty much like any other profession nowadays in that there are constant technological changes that take place whether you want to embrace them or not and because of that now more than ever it takes a team to properly run a real estate practice.
The constant technological changes and the explosion of social media platforms have dramatically altered how we do real estate. You need to either outsource or have someone on your team dedicated to properly marketing your listing as well as yourself, someone to handle internet SEO so your getting the right amount and type of hits on your website, someone to promote your listing on social media so your open houses draw large audiences, and all the other facets of the technology age. As Realtors we have Reator.com, Trulia, Zillow, Homes.com, Facebook Business Pages, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, Google + and more all clamoring for our time and participation time that takes us away from our clients and helping clients is the reason I got into this business in the first place.

Thankfully for myself I am part of a team. My teammate is my husband who not only has a background in real estate but also has an extensive background in management consulting helping small and medium sized businesses run right so for him handling the marketing and technological demands are second nature. I have wanted to work with him for years and after seeing the amazing things he was doing with distressed companies during the recession I doubled my efforts and finally got him to agree to work together, and we both could not be happier about it. His experience is very hands on (he has done everything from the graphic design for large marketing campaigns, to product photography work, to building and coding websites to writing TV commercials) and his areas of expertise are marketing and technology and even though it’s not his favorite thing he has extensive experience in corporate finance as well. Really I couldn’t of asked for a better partner to be in business with and lucky for me he is the one that get’s to handle all the things that keep agents from focusing on their clients so I can focus solely on our clients and for that I’m super thankful. I love helping buyers find their dream home and helping sellers get record prices for their homes so they can move on to a new exciting chapter in their lives that is why I picked this career. So for me I will stick with what I do best and leave the rest to my teammate who does a fantastic job!
